All this uses a total of 16 bytes for the data arrays, and a one page user code loop to animate. The code page is shown as screen capture. - The above posted code doesn't break anything, but it's not giving me the desired result of the randomly lit LEDs fading out while new ones light up. If I watch it for a minute, I'll catch a couple LEDs here and there working the way I wanted, but for the most part the changes are undetectable :-/

I was playing around in the color palette example but I can't figure out how to simply code just using one palette. Can someone please explain how it can be done? I have this from the example and it does what I want but I just want to understand how it could be condensed. - So I added your button code to the FASTLED code. The switch is working, but instead of turning the LED off it just changes the color. I tested it on some other FASTLED code and it does the same, the code more than likely has multiple LED modes.
